Yellowstone Week 3 / 3:16 PM

So as the snow started to clear up, our off-days became more productive! We could finally go on more hikes because the trails were open once again. Phillip asked us along to Mammoth with him, but at the last minute, he couldn't borrow his friend's van to accommodate all of us so we ended up just doing a short hike to Biscuit Basin. I think it was his first time out with so many Asians like us because I could see that he wasn't used to all of our camwhoring.. Heh.

Guess what! The weather changed drastically the next day! It started SNOWING heavily again. And so, once more, some roads were closed and my trip to Grand Tetons National Park with Faith was cancelled. We ended up roaming around Old Faithful and bumped into a whole herd of bisons.. And while we were busy taking photographs of them, we didn't realize how close they walked towards us - we were surrounded!

Started exploring the park a bit more this week. One of Terence's managers was really nice, and brought Terence, Kai Lun and I out on a drive even though it was snowing lightly and the roads were slippery. She brought us to West Thumb Geyser Basin, then we drove to see the Yellowstone Lake. It's still mostly frozen! This fresh water lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in the States that is above 7,000 feet. And it's HUGE - about 136 square miles! It looks like the freaking ocean!

The snow stopped again, and the Mystic Falls trail was clear from any bears roaming around, so Terence, KL, Shawn, Lorraine, Su and I went hiking to Mystic Falls! We hiked to the overlook point first, and then only to the falls. We took 4 hours in total! And needless to say, the trail to the overlook was covered in lots and lots of snow. Hiking in the snow when you do not have snow boots is really, really, REALLY cold for the toes. :P
